SUSPENSION OF THE 2020 PENNANT SEASON

Dear SEQDGA Clubs, Pennant Managers and Captains,

Further to the previous email circulated on 25 March as outlined below, the SEQDGA Board has reached a decision this week to cancel the 2020 SEQDGA Pennant Season due to the impacts caused by the COVID-2019 (coronavirus) pandemic.

I appreciate this decision may be received with disappointment from clubs and players, however the health, safety and well-being of our members and their families continues to be the priority for the SEQDGA Board and must continue to be our focus at this time.  The SEQDGA Board have decided that all entry fees paid for the 2020 season will be carried forward to the 2021 season for the teams that are nominated for the pennant competition.  The SEQDGA Board will provide a refund of fees for clubs who nominate a reduced number of teams for the 2021 pennant season, at the commencement of the 2021 season.

I would ask that any further enquiries regarding this decision be directed back via this email account rather than emails, phone calls or text messages to other Board Members, so these can be considered and responded to in a coordinated manner.

Regards

Adrian Paterson
SEQDGA Secretary

SUSPENSION OF THE 2020 PENNANT SEASON

Dear SEQDGA Clubs, Pennant Managers and Captains,

It is with regret but with unwavering consensus that the SEQDGA Board has reached a decision this week to suspend the 2020 SEQDGA Pennant Season, effective immediately.  This decision was not made lightly and I am sure every club and participant in this competition would appreciate and realise that this decision has been reached, based upon the advice, information and directions provided by State and Federal authorities in relation to the current COVID-19 pandemic (coronavirus).

The SEQDGA may consider the recommencement of the 2020 pennant competition when guidance from State and Federal authorities, recommends that it is safe and sound to do so and the timing of these changes allows sufficient time to complete the competition format, without disrupting other scheduled District and club competitions.

I appreciate this decision may be received with disappointment from clubs and players, however the health, safety and well-being of our members and their families must come first at this time.  Can I request any further enquiries regarding this decision be directed back via this email account rather than emails, phone calls or text messages to other Board Members, so these can be considered and responded to in a coordinated manner.

Regards

SEQDGA District Executive

On Tuesday 22 October, SEQDGA held a club forum at Riverlakes Golf Course and Tavern to gather input from member clubs regarding the draft new constitution for the district.

The forum was facilitated by Steve Connelly from CPR Group, who has been working with Golf Queensland and Golf Australia in recent years to provide constitution assistance to clubs and districts.

Four member clubs were represented at the forum, with attendees asking well-considered questions and providing valuable feedback. Key discussion items during the session included classes of membership, club delegates, appeal processes and general meeting quorums.

Over the coming weeks, the final draft constitution will be finalised and made available to clubs. For the new constitution to take effect, it will need to be approved by special resolution at a general meeting of the district.

Thank you to those who attended the forum.

A nomination form for Executive and Committee positions has also been attached to this email and it is requested all nominations be forwarded to the Secretary by close of business Monday 24th June 2019, either via reply email toseqdga.secretary@gmail.com or by mailing the nomination form to the SEQDGA - PO Box 189 Rochedale South Qld 4123.

SEQDGA DRAFT CONSTITUTION UPDATE

Clubs and Members –

Please see below information regarding the ongoing works to the SEQDGA constitution. Clubs will be aware that submissions regarding the draft  constitution were due back to the SEQDGA Secretary on the Friday the 10th

May 2019  – in that time correspondence was received from member clubs and discussed in the board meeting held at River lakes GC – on the 18thJune 2019 – as such information has been forwarded to CPR Group (Corporate Governance Specialist ) to assist create draft two (2) of the document. These works will be ongoing over the next period.

See below copy of email forwarded to all district club managers on Tuesday the 11th of June -  2019

Dear SEQDGA Clubs,

Further to Paul's Fitzpatrick (GM Redland Bay Golf Club ) email to clubs of last week, please appreciate the SEQDGA Board have submitted the feedback previously provided by the Redland Bay Golf Club to CPR Group (Golf Queensland's Corporate Governance Specialist) for consideration.  Once CPR Group have provided feedback to the Board it is our intent to consider the feedback provided and communicate further with all SEQDGA clubs regarding the amendments proposed.  As I am sure you would all appreciate, this will likely delay the review and possible amendments to the existing constitution and the timeline to achieve this will need to be extended beyond the original timeline of June 2019.

Further notification on the progress of this review and when it is likely that this will be considered at a formal meeting of the SEQDGA Board and clubs, will be provided at our earliest opportunity.

Regards

Adrian Paterson
SEQDGA Secretary
